He enjoyed curing and tasting his hams nearly as much as he enjoyed distilling his bourbons. It was one of his favorite things.

Booker's country ham tasting notes. The finish kept the creaminess but was surrounded by some really nice spiciness. As it stands, this is my favorite bourbon i’ve ever tasted. Taste | deep and complex flavors of vanilla, nuts and oak.

Nose is heavy caramel and a little oak with some brown sugar and candied peanut notes. This one is six years, four months, and two days old, and a healthy 124.7 proof. This expression, titled “country ham”, is the third booker’s release for 2019 and commemorates the enjoyment booker noe took from curing, and tasting country hams along with his world class bourbon.

Finish | long and full; 75% corn, 13% rye, 12% malted barley*. And since each barrel is different, every batch is unique and different.

But this is a hot juice. Bobby is a huge fan of bourbon and more recently rye whiskeys, with much to learn yet about scotch. A little on the baking flavors side for a booker’s, country ham perfectly combines sugary sweetness with an explosive spiciness.

So hot, many flavors are masked and challenging to discern. Each year, booker’s release a series of bottlings that celebrate the life of founder and former master distiller booker noe. Notes of warm vanilla pods and carmelized brown sugar lead to hints of oak.

This one was named after his grandmother's biscuit recipe that the master distiller worked so hard to perfect ― just as he did with his bourbon. Booker's was established in 1988 in kentucky and is produced by jim beam distillery. This batch of booker’s finishes long and warm.

Notes of dark chocolate, butterscotch, leather and dark fruits dominate the palate, and give way to a bold and intense finish. This batch has a nice aroma of vanilla and oak with hints of toasted nuts. Heavy peanut brittle, musty oak, nutmeg, molasses, pear, orange zest, chardonnay.

Bobby naturally transitioned to drinking more whiskey, and started seeking out more complex whiskeys in his mid 20’s. 6 years, 4 months and 2 day old bourbon whisky. The first booker’s i tasted was the one with the brown rubber band.

Country ham’s subtle aromas are well blended and makes me salivate. Flavors of warm brown sugar and sweet vanilla bean hit your palate first, followed by lightly smoked oak and seasoned wood. Notify me when this product is back in stock.

In the second tasting, the much diminished heat allowed more flavors to come forward, making for a more enjoyable sip. His whiskey obsession really picked up after he tasted booker’s and jefferson’s reserve. Country ham is the name for the third batch of booker’s bourbon in 2019.

After retiring in 1992, booker went on to work as an ambassador for the company and traveled the world promoting beam bourbon until he died in 2004. Yeah, i pretty much review each batch of booker’s if i can get my hands on a bottle. A while back during a local knob creek tasting here in new orleans, the local beam suntory team brought out one of fred noe’s country hams for the group to enjoy.

Booker noe loved his ham. The breakdown of barrel storage is as follows: It is bottled at 127.8 proof and was aged for 6 years, 10 months, and 1 day.

Booker’s was launched in 1988 as the first mass produced bourbon bottled straight from the barrel, uncut and unfiltered. I eat ham all the time, but this one still sticks out in my memories. Color | our darkest and deepest amber and henna color.
